If you have completed your 180 days with your 'parent' company.. then you are safe!
It's safer to get H1 transfer as mentioned by seltzer above
Your new company should be able to take care of AOS transfer for you which means change of representation - i.e. a new attorney representing your AOS case now AND change of job!
I'm going through that process right now!

If not, you are repeating the same old story. What if you plan to move from this second employer...

I went to stamping in Montreal on 10/10/06. No issues or problems. I also recommend to be prepared for a lot of questions, and take all the paperwork.
My visa was also expired in 2004. I got 3 years VISA stamp upon my 3 year extention approval.

Maybe. But parallel filing itself has been dysfunctional ever since retrogression hit. Talk of replacing one dysfunctional system with another.

I think you need to apply for a labour certification a year before a completion of 6 year of H1 period for 7th year extension but in perm you get labour certified within 2 months. Even if you start now you can get your labour and I140 (in premium processing) done before DEC. After then you can leave back to home country and still continue the process as future emplyoment.
I don't know if you become eligible for 7th year extension.

I think you can get the extension with new company too. While applying for the transfer request extension upto Feb 2010. You might have to provide the I140 approval again to prove that you are eligible for 3-year extension.

I think you can join the company immediately. To be in safe side you can apply for transfer in premium.
As you might be aware there is no such thing as H1B transfer - every h1b application is a new one for that company and you as beneficeiry. So when applying for H1B with new company - you have to provide evidence that you are eligible for the H1B. The evidence is to show you are already on H1B (so that you are not subject to annual cap); and that you have enough time on H1B if you already completed 6 years then evidence to prove that you are eligible for further extension of h1b. What is unfortunate is that whenever they talk about 'immigration', it always refers to the illegal immigration problem. The US already have a legal immigration process. Fix this first before dealing with the illegal problem. If there was a functional legal immigration process, it would resolve some illegal immigration issues.

1) Ask what work you will get? Ask to speak with the team members of the team you will work with and get your role clarified.
2) compensation. How much $$$$ they are paying more wrt current position or wrt other offers you may have in recent future.
3) As someone said correctly, get to know the work culture and the team make sure you don't end up being chained to work.
The advantage is that you can rise quickly (not much competition) & stable job.
So see whats important for you.

Your current employer experience has to be prior to your labor filing date (PD). You can not use the experience you got after the filing date.

I called the general customer service number - National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283.
As I mentioned earlier, I did not go through with the options of sending the info. to the US consulate. But I will give it a try tomorrow. I don't know what you can do with that option (PIMS etc), but it is worthwhile to explore.
At what number did you call? Was it Kentucky Consular Center? Do you mean that we can have our information sent to PIMS system or consulate in India? In other words, does that say anything particularly about PIMS?

My 1st 3 yrs of H1B is gonna be completed this year.My DL is valid until 2009 issued by Santa Clara DMV in CA State.If i move to PA State or for that matter other state in US would DMV deny me a new Driver's License until my new H1B is extended for 3 more years??
